The purpose of this day is to highlight awareness of computer related security issues and to remind people to protect their computers and information.
Security is an important consideration when working with computers, the Internet, or any electronic devices. Use Computer Security Day to ensure that your passwords are regularly updated, that your personal information is safe and secure, and that your systems are protected.
For this year, the theme of Computer Security Day 2011 is, “Information Security is Everyone’s Responsibility”. Computer Security Day is a globally recognized annual event set up to inform computer users of the significance of computer security. It was started in 1988, to help raise awareness of computer related security issues, when the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) sought to bring computer-related security issues to the nation’s forefront. Since that time, Computer Security Day has evolved into a worldwide event.
