What is a Vulnerability Scan?

Vulnerability Scans identify known network, operating system, web application and web server exploits/vulnerabilities with the use of automated tools. External scans can give you an overall picture of the vulnerabilities to which your external presence is exposed.

Why do a Vulnerability Scan?

Many organizations’ external presence is under constant attack. To prevent a data breach, the organization must verify they are not exposed to vulnerabilities which may aid an attacker in compromising the organization’s critical infrastructure protection.

Before a vulnerability can be remediated, the vulnerability’s existence must be known. External vulnerability assessment scans are used to find an organization’s vulnerabilities. Additionally the type and severity of the vulnerabilities are identified to help prioritize remediation efforts.
